About

Couch is a passion project developed by Laura-Adriana and Alex, aimed at creating the ultimate read-it-later experience for iPhone, iPad, and Mac users. Born from a desire to improve upon existing solutions, Couch has evolved from a Pocket client to a full-fledged read-it-later app with its own unique features.

Our Journey

Alex's journey into app development began with the release of Swift in 2014. Frustrated with the limitations of existing read-it-later apps, particularly on iPad, he set out to create a better alternative. The project started as a learning experience, utilizing the Pocket SDK, Swift, and Storyboards.

Over the years, Couch underwent several iterations and complete rewrites. A significant milestone was reached in mid-2022 when version 1.0 was released on the App Store, fully embracing Apple's SwiftUI framework. With version 4, Couch expanded beyond being just a Pocket client, introducing iCloud sync capabilities and establishing itself as a comprehensive read-it-later solution.

Features and Pricing

Couch offers a range of features for free, with additional functionality available through a one-time in-app purchase. This model allows us to cover development costs while keeping the app accessible to all users. We're committed to avoiding a subscription model, though we may consider an upgrade model (free updates for 1 year, keep everything unlocked forever) in the future to support ongoing development.

Our Commitment

As a spare-time project, Couch is developed with passion rather than profit as the primary motivator. This allows us to focus on creating the best possible user experience without the pressure of maximizing revenue. However, it's important to note that development speed and response times may vary depending on our available time.

Your privacy is our top priority. Couch does not track your activity in any way. Your content belongs solely to you and is only synced with Pocket and/or iCloud, depending on the accounts you choose to use with Couch. Additionally, Couch does not monitor any user behavior or collect data.
